By an OMS-related Evangelical Church of India coworker

Today, here at the seminary, exams were canceled, so the students are taking relief packets to some villages where OMS-related Evangelical Church of India churches have been hit with terrible flooding. Some church buildings have six feet of water in them. Many people are stranded on their roofs.
An estimated 10 million people have been displaced and over 2 million homes have been destroyed. More than 400 villages nearby are under water. Praise God the dam in Vijayawada held and the waters are receding. Thousands and thousands of people are spending the nights on the roads, with only the clothes on their back as the roads are the high places. They have no toilet facilities and no drinking water. Wells are all polluted. Disease is beginning to spread.
The seminary students went out with relief kits but were overwhelmed. How do you give a bucket, some rice, a loaf of bread and chlorine tablets to one person with a hundred others standing around in desperate need?
Pray with us that relief agencies can respond. Up to this point, most financial assistance has been local. We are grateful for the assistance we have received thus far from OMS International.
