Susan Loobie
Director, Communications/Editor
Susan (Griswold) Loobie received her call to missionary service in 1986 while studying journalism at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
After graduating from Ball State in 1988, Susan entered Wheaton College Graduate School and earned a master’s degree in intercultural studies/missions, with an emphasis in teaching English as a second language (TESL).
Susan has been able to use her degrees in ministry--from working at a Christian adoption agency to organizing exhibits at InterVarsity’s Urbana Student Mission Convention to serving as a missionary in both Spain and Mexico.
Before joining OMS International, Susan served with Latin America Mission (LAM) for 10 years—both as a field missionary and as a support staff in the U.S., working as the editor of LAM’s magazine.
In 2003, Susan, her husband Patrick (from Trinidad) and their two young children, Caleb and Rachel, moved to Indiana from Miami, Florida, so Patrick could begin a job repairing ultrasound machines for Crisis Pregnancy Centers and to be near her family. With the calling still alive in her heart, Susan heard about OMS’ need for an editor and responded.
Today, Susan serves as a missionary with OMS International, headquartered in Greenwood, Indiana. She serves as the director of the Communications Department and as managing editor of Outreach magazine. Each day, she has the privilege of informing, inspiring and involving OMS supporters in deeper mission participation.
It is only through the faithfulness and generosity of God’s people that Susan continues, after 18 years in full-time Christian service, to fulfill His call upon her life to “go into all the nations, making disciples and teaching them all that He has commanded.”
