Paul and Dawn Cox
Field Leadership/Church Planting
Paul joined OMS International in 2001 and is currently serving as a career missionary in Madrid, Spain. He and Dawn were married one year later and have been serving in the capital city together since 2002. Possessing a deep love for Spaniards and a passion to reach the nation for Christ, they have made a long-term commitment to work and serve alongside a team of nationals who are currently sharing the Gospel and planting churches in Madrid.
In 1987, at the age of 17, God placed within Dawn His desire for her to serve as a foreign missionary. In 1992, as a college student, she traveled to Spain to study Spanish as a second language. Dawn was so moved by the immense need for God’s hope, she returned to the U.S. with a strong conviction to return to Spain someday. In fact, the 1992 trip would mark the first of five trips to Spain in a nine-year span. Four years ago, her 14-year-old call to missions intersected with Paul’s when one day he showed up at her home for a free Spanish class for beginners just prior to his departure to Spain.
Paul is a graduate of Texas A&M University and, before surrendering to the call to missions, was a corporate recruiter in the Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth areas for nine years. Dawn is a 1993 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor’s degree in social work. In 1999, she obtained a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of North Texas.
Their first child, Samuel Wallace, was born in Grapevine, Texas, on November 18, 2003, during the couple’s six-month stay at First Church. Their second child, Benjamin Caleb, is part Spanish and part Texan, as he was born on September 22, 2004, in Madrid.
