The Thiessens are on their way to Maputo!

Mike and Sarah are currently finishing ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Mike is the pastor of College Ministries and Adult Discipleship Ministries, and Sarah is the director of the Critter’s Creek (the nursery). They plan to be in Mozambique by May 2008, Lord willing.

In the spring of 2002, Mike graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with his master of arts in religion degree. As part of a final practicum course, Mike and Sarah visited Maputo that summer to serve short-term with OMS. During that visit, God planted a seed of passion and interest in them to help the churches of Maputo and the people of Mozambique. After a “germination period” and a fruitful, valuable experience with a great local church, God has sprouted His seed, and the Thiessens are pursuing a ministry transition.

Michael will provide key leadership for and teaching in the Maputo Bible
Seminary. Sarah will serve at the Christian Academy of Mozambique and help
with OMS pre-school initiatives.

The Thiessens have two boys, Simon (4) and Gabriel (17 months).
