Teacher/Administrator/Shepherds

Keith and Judy Kennedy began their missionary careers with OMS International in July 1996 for a year in Archangel, Russia. Keith served as team leader of the seven-person team, and Judy served as team developer. Since early 2002, they have worked on an OMS team in Manila, Philippines. Keith functions as the USA-based resource development officer for Faith Bible College, where he also teaches. He also manages the field’s finances and serves with Judy as a “shepherd” for some Filipino pastors and church planters. Judy helped to launch an outreach to impoverished families that grew into multiple programs of: Sunday Bible teaching of children, scholarship support for high school students to keep them in school, tutoring and livelihood training. She now is the administrator, helping to equip dozens of Filipino coworkers.

In April 2006, Keith and Judy started foster parenting a Filipino orphan, Melody, who is now age 17 (birthday May 14, 1990). The Kennedys are in the process of legally adopting her.

Keith has a bachelor of science degree in business finance from Indiana University and a master’s degree in public history from California State University, Hayward. Judy has a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.

OMS has been in the Philippines since 1984. Keith and Judy envision equipping Filipino leadership to assume responsibility. They want to see an indigenous, self-supporting and growing Filipino church. Their heart’s desire is to work themselves out of their jobs, and in doing so, know that they have empowered and released their Filipino friends to do God’s transformational work far into the future.
