Darryl and Kelly Chambers

Short-Term Missions Coordinators

While attending the 100th Anniversary Celebration of OMS International in July of 2001, Darryl and Kelly Chambers experienced a call on their lives to go into full-time missionary service. In May of 2005, they left Texas, along with their children Josh and Courtney, to begin their ministry in Quito, Ecuador.

The Chambers work as short-term missions coordinators. They make all of the arrangements for each team and take care of the various mission teams that come down to Ecuador to do short-term ministry. They also run the OMS Guest House in Quito. They are responsible for providing lodging and meals for teams with OMS as well as other missions who come to Ecuador for short-term ministry. “Over the past two years God has given us the privilege of investing our lives into hundreds of people who have come to Ecuador in obedience to God’s direction in their lives. It has been a tremendous blessing to work alongside so many incredible people in the building of His kingdom in Ecuador.”

The Lord spent many years preparing the Chambers to serve Him in Ecuador. Darryl learned to work hard at an early age, and in the process, was recognized for his leadership and administrative skills by the company for which he was employed twenty-five years. His ability to work with people, his managerial skills, and his gift of building relationships are key elements in directing the visiting groups, running the guest house and working with the nationals. Kelly spent five years in Ecuador as an MK—learning the language, adapting to the culture and loving the people. When she returned to Texas for her university studies, she obtained a bilingual certification along with her education degree, and has been actively using the Spanish language ever since. God has used her cross-cultural experiences and her ability with the language to open many doors for serving Him.

It is through the faithfulness and generosity of God’s people that the Chambers continue to fulfill His call to missions. “We have been so blessed to be a part of what God is doing around the world. We have been inspired daily by those who have dedicated their lives to Christ’s service. We praise God for the impact they have had on our lives and for the privilege He has given us to serve Him in Ecuador.”
